Welcome to the Financial Aid Resource page for high school counselors! The OASFAA Outreach Committee hopes that you'll find the information on these pages useful in your search to make higher education affordable. Send comments or questions about this information to [email protected]. 

On this page, you will find access to all the professional developments opportunities related to financial aid that will be offered for the 2024-25 academic year. As opportunities are made available, they will be posted on this page.

You will also find the opportunity to request a financial aid presenter for your financial aid information night and the ability to place yourself in the OASFAA Counselor database so that you can receive our communications directly,

 

FAFSA Line-by-Line Webinar

OASFAA will record a 2025-2026 FAFSA training that you can listen to and use as a reference when assisting students and families with completing the FAFSA. This will be made available as soon as screen shots for the 25-26 FAFSA are available.

 

Financial Aid 101 Webinar   - Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 9:00-10:30am

This free webinar is for newer High School, Access, TRiO, and AmeriCorps counselors, as well as any brand new admissions or financial aid counselors. If you are in your first several years assisting high school students through the paying for college process, this webinar will provide an overview of the financial aid programs available to students. The steps that students must take in pursuing financial aid their senior year of high school will also be covered.

High School Counselor Workshops 

OASFAA will offer 14 in-person Counselor Workshop and one virtual workshop. These workshops will focus on line-by-line completion of the 2025-2026 FAFSA. We will do a deep dive on the FSA ID, federal student aid programs, verification, state aid programs, award letter review and resources available to counselors for assisting students and families with the financial aid process. Come join us, network with your colleagues and bring your financial aid questions. The general timeframe for this event is 9 am - Noon. It may vary by site so please check your confirmation from your site coordinator.

Financial Aid 201 Webinar  - COMING IN MARCH 2025

With students beginning to receive award letters this month, families will be asking how to pay for college. This webinar will cover topics such as Ohio FAFSA numbers for the Class of 2024, reviewing aid offers, verification, financial aid appeals for special circumstances and borrowing options available to families. Share the word with your colleagues and bring your financial aid questions.

High School Financial Aid Night Presenters - AVAILABLE NOW

  • Request a Financial Aid Night Presenter. The OASFAA Outreach Committee can help facilitate your school's Financial Aid Night by helping to connect you with local financial aid professionals willing to present at your school. PLEASE NOTE-The presenter being requested here will be available to do a financial aid presentation only. This request is not to be used for support at a FAFSA completion event.
  • If you are in need of a recorded financial aid night presentation, OASFAA will do a generic presentation that you could share with students and parents during a virtual event or share the link on your school website for families to watch. 
  • Event requests need to be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the event.  Requests that are submitted within a week will likely not be able to be fulfilled.
